First post.

Seeing two people I know with two blogs about what they're doing - it made me feel the need to get an account myself, so I can follow what they're up to. I then thought to myself - it made sense to set up my own blog myself, showing what I do for a living.

Classing myself as a dance performance artist this blog will let you into my world of auditions, rehearsals, performances, collaborations - anything to do with me and my life as a dance performance artist.

Me when performing at Glastonbury Festival, 2010

A little background information: originally from Scunthorpe, I trained at Kimberley School of Dance (now known as Kimberley Performing Arts Centre) in all forms of dance - Modern (Jazz), Tap, Ballet, Street (Hip-Hop), and contemporary - contemporary being the style I mainly focus on.

I then moved on to study at Bath Spa University where I graduated with a high 2.1 in BAHons Dance. Whilst at university, myself and two other dancers formed an unofficial company known as Revelate Dance where we used our Dissertation performance, Acquiescence, and took it to platforms in the Tacchi Morris Centre and the Salisbury Arts Centre (to view a 10-minute feature of the performance, click here). Ex-DV8 performer, Paul Clayden, asked me to work with him at Glastonbury Festival 2010 with company Arcadia on the 30-minute performance they did each night in front of 10,000 people (preview of performance can been seen here. I also had the chance to work with Chris Lewis-Smith on a dance on camera project which he called 'Mirrorland' (to view the video, click here).

I now have moved to Bristol, where I am now trying to make it in the dance industry in the city. I currently have been invited to audition for Vex Dance Theatre, a Bristol-based dance company who focus on bringing a link between dance and theatre. Fingers crossed on the audition, and I'll let you know how it goes on.
